Why You Should Get a Licensed Plumber

Save yourself and your clients from the hassle of getting unlicensed plumbers.

Faulty plumbing is an absolute nightmare for anyone. It gets stinky, it gets wet, and most of all, it gets EXPENSIVE. Not only is this bad for the people experiencing the leaks, but it’s a bad reflection on the contractor who got the plumbers in the first place. You can’t keep clients if you don’t get the right plumbers.

While an unlicensed plumber may most likely be cheaper than a licensed one, there’s a reason why licenses exist in the first place. With a license comes expertise, experience, and credibility. Trying to get anything approved by the local government with an unlicensed plumber is a surefire way to give you and your clients a massive headache and empty pockets.

In the same way you wouldn’t hire someone who didn’t finish medical school, or a person who never passed the bar in a law firm, being a contractor who hires unlicensed plumbers brings with it the risk of quality control, technical knowledge, and of course, legal issues. Let’s say that you got an unlicensed plumber to serve a client and they found out. At this point they’d have multiple courses of action to take. They could offer you the opportunity to address the faulty work, of course with a properly licensed plumber. They could also leave a negative review and cut off all contact with you. At worst, they can leave the negative review but instead of leaving you be, go through the legal process in order to have the law penalize you for your bad decision. Not only would this damage your reputation in the community, but it would most likely end with you losing YOUR customer, so now you’re both broke AND jobless. Clawing yourself out of that hole would be next to impossible, if not resulting in you being in a deeper hole.

As mentioned multiple times in the previous paragraphs, hiring an unlicensed plumber can lead to financial problems for both you and your client. From the moment the waterworks malfunction, you’re both in deep trouble. Assuming that the client finds out that you got an unlicensed plumber and STILL decides to go with you for the repair work, consider yourself extremely lucky for still having a job and a client. The downside is that you both have to spend more now (most likely you) because your client will definitely haggle for the repair costs while you're stuck sourcing a more expensive, albeit more knowledgeable plumber..

Now that you know how bad an idea it is to get an unlicensed plumber, you’re probably thinking about where you can find someone who has the knowledge, skills, experience, and legal approvals to get your clients’ plumbing in excellent condition. That’s where we at Integrity Services & Plumbing (it’s even in the name!) come in. Why take a risk when you can take the best? Reach out to us and let’s talk.
